On 21-22 September 2016, the workshop "East Africa Regional Workshop on Private Sector Engagement in Mitigation Actions" was held in Entebbe, Uganda, co-hosted by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Uganda and the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Center (RCC). The workshop focused on identifying suitable mechanisms and policies for stronger involvement of private enterprises in mitigation activities, as well as which role public institutions can take to facilitate ambitious mitigation investments. The workshop brought together representatives from public entities, financial institutions as well as representatives from private companies. The workshop focused mainly on mitigation activities, but also gave importance to sustainable development co-benefits of mitigation interventions.
