This short study addresses the outcomes of the negotiations on carbon markets and Article 6 at COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh 2022 with a special focus on the relevance for the African continent. In addition to presenting and classifying the outcomes of the negotiations, it presents numerous pilot activities and capacity building initiatives that directly and indirectly rely on market instruments to advance the practical development of carbon markets on the African continent.
