This study analyses how the African CDM portfolio may be affected by the compromise options for the transition from the CDM towards the Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement. It identifies key open issues and challenges concerning the transition of CDM methodologies, activities and units that need to be taken into account in the design of the CDM transition and Article 6.4.
