March 2020 – Since the launch of the Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance in June 2019, significant effort has been put into the development of a dedicated website. With the launch of easternafricaalliance.org the Alliance now has its own web presence. This powerful tool will facilitate the virtual exchange of information across the region for practical learning on carbon markets and climate finance.

As we move towards operationalizing carbon markets under the Paris Agreement different stakeholders from the private sector, non-governmental organizations and the general public will need a deeper understanding of the technical issues surrounding cooperative approaches, the new market mechanism and non market approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The website will provide a wide range of content in the form of reports, technical papers, studies, webinars, workshop materials and video resources to further awareness among stakeholders.

Further to this, it also provides relevant news and event updates on developments in the region and the African continent in the space of carbon markets and climate finance. The launch of the website is the first step and, in conjunction with the Alliance, the webpage will grow into a reputable knowledge hub providing quality information to Eastern African stakeholders.
