The Supporting Preparedness for Article 6 Cooperation (SPAR6C) program is a global program under the German International Climate Initiative (IKI) funded by the German Ministry from Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The program will be implemented in the 2022-2027 period and is going to support 4 countries (Colombia, Pakistan, Thailand and Zambia) to participate in the international carbon market established under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Interventions will be both informed by and amplified through a toolbox of global knowledge products, as well as international knowledge exchange to take place in a Community of Practice for Article 6 Implementing Countries (CoP-ASIC). Through the CoP-ASIC, new research, policy and country experiences in Article 6 market participation will be collected and shared with regional and global audiences.
The IKI-SPAR6C program was launched in June 2022, and the objectives and activities of the CoP-ASIC continue to take shape as more actors enter the global support ecosystem for Article 6 participation. The purpose of this event is to make use of the occasion of COP27 to officially launch the CoP-ASIC, and hear from key beneficiaries and global stakeholders how they intend to contribute to and benefit from this community of like-minded Article 6 market participants.
