What does the Article 6 rulebook mean for the MENA region?
The long-awaited adoption of the Article 6 rulebook at COP26 has kicked-off the operationalization of the rules in the context of the Article 6 work programme and reinforced ongoing efforts to build Article 6 readiness. The side event will address the key issues in the work programme in the upcoming years and discuss what the rules could mean for the MENA region including for ongoing capacity building efforts. Besides, the role of initiatives such as the Carbon Market Mechanisms Working Group (CMMWG) shall be discussed in supporting the rapid operationalization of Article 6 through upscaled activities.
