October 2019 – Cooperative action is one of the key factors needed to achieve the scale of action required for limiting global warming to 1.5 ° C. Article 6 of the Paris Agreement can play its part here, as it is designed to foster raising climate ambition among Parties. This issue of the Carbon Mechanisms Review therefore asks how ambition raising can take place in cooperative action, what the pitfalls are and how action can be best aligned with host country policies.

Beyond that, the latest CMR looks at activities blending climate finance and at carbon financing schemes, and analyses ways to attribute the mitigation outcomes. Other articles state how double counting can be avoided under CORSIA and how sustainable development benefits can be promoted through various approaches under Article 6.
