CDM EB elects new chair, approves bicycle methodology

At EB 98, the Board elected Arthur Rolle, Bahamas, as Chair and Piotr Dombrowicki, Poland, as Vice Chair. Rolle, a meteorologist, is responsible for National Communications and UNFCCC Negotiations at the Bahamas Environment Ministry.

The Board approved its Workplan for 2018 with little debate. Apart from routine works, highlights of the plan include a Concept Note dealing with stranded CERs, streamlining the rules on standardised baselines  and developing of a top-down methodology: “CDM in urban sectors”.

At EB 99, the Board approved a methodology to promote the use of bicycles and tricycles in public transport systems. The methodology makes it possible to calculate emission reductions achieved with projects which promote bicycle use – for example by expanding cycle paths and creating bike-share schemes.
