June 2015 -The East African Carbon Fair will take place from 14 to 15 July 2015, in Kampala, Uganda. The event organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the support of BMU will bring together project developers, funding agencies, buyers, investors and companies interested in climate mitigation activities in East Africa. It will set the stage to further explore innovative financing instruments for project development and investment opportunities in the region and provide an opportunity to discuss innovative financing solutions in a constantly changing carbon market environment. The focus will be on three types of innovative finance: compliance market; voluntary market; results-based finance (e.g. WB auction facility). Along those three types of demand for innovative finance, the Fair will allow participants to exchange on investment opportunities; different project types and standard schemes as well as on the economic and social benefits created. The event will also explore new African developments such as trading of credits via stock exchanges and the emergence of carbon taxes.
