General note

There are occasional media reports of viruses being sent from a forged sending address. This very often affects large companies and public authorities, who generally enjoy the trust of internet users. The Federal Environment Ministry never sends file attachments with a name ending in .exe or .com. Please forward any emails of this kind to jiko@wupperinst.org. If possible, please provide a phone number to contact you.

1. Online content

The authors give no warranty regarding the currency, correctness, completeness or quality of the information provided. Liability claims against the authors for tangible or intangible loss or damage caused by the use or non-use of the information provided or from the use of incorrect or incomplete information are excluded except to the extent that there is demonstrable wilful misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the authors. All content is free of obligation and non-binding. The authors expressly reserve the right, without prior notice, to modify, add to or delete the website in whole or part or to temporarily or permanently suspend publication.

2. References and links

In the case of direct or indirect links to other websites or other documents on the internet for which the authors have no responsibility, the authors cannot be made liable except in the event that they have knowledge of such content and it would be technically feasible and reasonable for them to prevent its use if illegal. The authors expressly state that there was no evidence of illegal content on linked websites when the links were added. The authors have no influence on the current and future design, content or authorship of linked websites. They consequently expressly dissociate themselves from all content of all linked website that have been modified since the links were added. This applies both to all links and references in the authors’ own content and to links and references added by others in guest books, discussion forums, link collections and mailing lists provided by the authors. Liability for illegal, incorrect or incomplete content and in particular for loss or damage arising as a result of the use or non-use of such information lies solely with the provider of the linked website and not with whoever merely references the publication concerned by linking to it.

3. Copyright and trademark law

The authors endeavour to observe the copyright of images, sound files, video sequences and text used in all publications, to use their own images, sound files, video sequences and text, or to make use of license-free images, sound files, video sequences and text. Any and all brand names and trademarks referred to in the website that may be protected by third parties are subject without restriction to the provisions of applicable trademark law and the ownership rights of their respective registered owners. Mere reference does not give rise to any presumption that trademarks are not protected under third-party rights.

The copyright to published objects created by the authors remains exclusively with the website authors. Reproduction or the use of such images, sound files, video sequences or text in other electronic or printed publications is not permitted without the express consent of the authors.

4. Data protection

The operators of carbon-mechanisms.de take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this data protection notice.

Wherever this website provides a possibility for entry of personal or business data (email addresses, names, addresses, etc.), the provision of such data is voluntary on the part of the user. As far as is technically feasible and reasonable, all services provided may be used without providing such data or by using anonymised data or a pseudonym. Excepted from this are forms for ordering publications and other materials, event registration forms and accreditation forms. Third parties are not permitted to use contact details published on the Imprint page or comparable information, such as postal addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses, for sending information that has not been expressly requested. We expressly reserve the right to take legal action against the senders of ‘spam’ mail in contravention of this prohibition.

5. Communication by email (contact form – personal data)

If you use our contact form to send us an enquiry, your details from the contact form, including the contact details you provide in it, will be stored in order to process your enquiry and for any follow-up. We do not share this information with third parties without your consent.

Communication via email may have security vulnerabilities. Adept internet users are able to intercept and view emails in transit to the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU). If the Ministry receives an email from you (such as through the contact form), it is assumed that the BMU is also authorised to answer by email. Otherwise, another means of communication (such as postal mail) should be considered.

6. Email magazine subscription

If you wish to subscribe to the Carbon Mechanisms Review magazine offered on the website, we need you to provide us with an email address and information so that we can verify that you are the owner of the email address and consent to receiving the magazine. No other data is collected. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not share it with third parties.

You can revoke your consent to the storage of your data and email address and to their use for sending the magazine by sending an unsubscribe email to jiko@wupperinst.org.

7. Data storage (server log)

Information that your browser automatically sends to us is automatically collected and stored in server log files by the website provider. This information comprises:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the requesting computer
  • Time of the server request

No person can be identified from this data. The data is not combined with data from other sources. We reserve the right to check the data subsequently if we have specific indications of unlawful use.

Every access to this Federal Environment Ministry website is stored in a log file on our web server for data security purposes for a maximum of 24 hours. The following data is stored in the log file:

  • Name of the file requested
  • Date and time of request
  • Volume of data transmitted
  • Report whether the request was successful
  • Referral URL
  • Information on the program requesting the data (user agent)

The stored data is not used for statistical purposes. It is not shared with third parties for commercial or non-commercial use. The log file data is not combined with any other data as may be stored as a result of using other content where personal data is provided.

You cannot be identified directly from the IP address in the log file and such identification is ruled out. The IP address is evaluated solely in the event of attacks on the Federal Environment Ministry’s internet infrastructure, violations of common decency or other unlawful acts in connection with the use of the website. The only way in which you can be identified from the IP address is via your dial-in provider in police or public prosecution investigation proceedings.

Any request for personal data on this website is made openly to the data subject. Only necessary data is requested. We treat such data confidentially and use it exclusively in accordance with data protection law for the purposes for which it is collected. If your personal data (such as your name, postal address and email address) needs to be stored for the purposes of a requested information service, your data will only be stored as long as it is necessary to meet the request or perform the tasks of the Federal Environment Ministry for which the data is collected. When content ceases to be provided or content (such as a newsletter) is unsubscribed by the user, the personal data is irrevocably erased after a maximum of six weeks.

This website uses the Matomo open source web analytics service. Matomo uses ‘cookies’. These are text files placed on your computer to help analyse how you use the website. For this purpose, the information generated by the cookie about the use of this website is stored on our server. The IP address is anonymised before it is stored.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is not shared with third parties. You can refuse to accept cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, but please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

For this purpose, and for further information on personal data, you can contact us at any time at the address provided on the Imprint page.
